Technology Areas

Dstl has world-leading innovative ideas and technologies resulting from the work of its 3500 staff and its ~£353m budget. Many of these diverse research activities are captured in patent applications.

The link on the right lists those patent applications filed by Dstl’s patent agents that are available for licensing.

Owing to the nature of Dstl’s work not all of these applications are publicly available. Ploughshare has grouped those technologies available for licensing into the five areas listed below:

Biomedical

diagnostics, drugs, biotechnology, vaccine antigens and delivery technologies etc.

Coatings & Materials

with novel properties such

as oil- and water-repellent fabrics/coatings, adhesives etc.

Detectors & Sensors

methodology, instrumentation and systems including particulate concentration and optical-based analyte detections platforms.

Electromagnetic & Communications

components & systems including X-ray systems, technologies to improve GPS accuracy, cameras & other communcation systems.
