Technology Transfer of Publicly Funded Research

A number of Government commissioned reports (e.g. the Baker Report of 1999) have noted the need for more effective commercialisation of publicly funded research.

The Office of Science and Technology (OST) provides a variety of schemes through which UK research establishments can improve their technology transfer capabilities. These schemes include the Higher Education Innovation Fund and the Public Sector Research Exploitation Fund. The latter supports the Interact Project, a multi-PSRE collaboration that aims to capture the synergies of combining intellectual property, knowledge and R&D services.

Dstl is committed to driving civilian commercialisation of technologies through Ploughshare and contributes to the strategic management of our exploitation activities through corporate governance arrangements.
