First Spin Out Company
The first company to be spun out was P2i. The business is based on technology that creates a hydrophobic coating that was originally developed to protect soldiers from chemical agents. It is now used to waterproof various civilian products including smartphones, headphones, bluetooth headsets and hearing aids.
Ploughshare Innovations was established to provide a commercialisation route for technologies developed by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).
