Mike Carr, previous Chief Scientific Officer for British Telecom (BT) joins the Ploughshare Innovations board on 1 May 2016 as a non-executive director.
Mike brings experience from an extensive and esteemed international career in telecommunications, related research and associated innovation having developed BT’s licensing and venturing business.
In welcoming Mike to the board Chairman Piers White commented:
“We are very excited to have Mike join the board. His experience will prove extremely valuable to Ploughshare and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) in enabling opportunities to bring defence developed technologies to wider markets.”
Mike Carr added: “Maximising investment in research through dual or multiple use applications has always been a key driver but particularly relevant now as new and resourceful approaches to fund research are increasingly needed. I’m very much looking forward to supporting Ploughshare and contributing to its success.”
Mike also has other board roles including Innovate UK, the Enterprise Committee of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Ordnance Survey and Astigan Ltd. an Ordnance Survey joint venture.
